As a leader, do you really respect your subordinates; as much as you respect yourself?

I've always respected those who work for me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be as successful as I am. Always take care of them and they will take care of you.

Way to go, SCPO David Lockwood. GOD taught us all to respect others more than ourselves; did He not?
What a GREAT response, David!

I respected my subordinates a lot, it was them that made me the great leader that I was.

WOW, SSG Audwin Scott! What a fine leader you made. You are very humble; as well. A very good trait of a good leader.

SPC Margaret Higgins - you have to always keep in mind with out any followers you can't be a leader so respecting them to me is and was very important.

I mostly respected my subordinates more. They knew their job better than I for the most part. My job was to help them be better and safer. The result was I respected them more. That said, for those who pushed back on being a team player, covering their shipmates six, etc. I had little respect or tolerance.
We tend to be more critical of ourselves with the second guessing. The extreme version is the "what could I have done different to save...."? I never dwelled on the level of "leader" as I spent much more time looking outward vs. inward.

I really like the fact that you looked outward, rather than dwelling on the fact that you were a leader; Captain. I also like the fact that you wanted to help your subordinates to be better and safer. It sounds like you were a very good leader, to me; Captain.
Captain, please don't analyze yourself to pieces. You really did the best you could've; with what you had.
