I'm a prior service active duty 68W who has been out of the Army since 2016. I'm currently in college ROTC and looking to join the National Guard while in school.
I've talked to a recruiter and have explained that i'm no longer up to date on my NREMT. He said I wouldn't need to go back to AIT and that I'd be retrained at my unit. I'm just looking for insight on how that works, and if there's anything I should do ahead of time to prepare. Thank you.

Depending when your EMT expired. If it’s within 24 months you should be able to challenge the board. ( take the test and skills part). The information is on the NREMT site. If it’s outside of 24 months (mine was) you can take a local EMT course to Recertify or request to go back to AIT. Your unit can run your table 8. You just have to get the EMT squared away.

You'll have to renew your NREMT and qualify on table 8 medic qualification table to hold the MOS. That's straight out of the ACASP requirements

I’m wondering if I’ll need to take an EMT class at a local school or if there’s a different way the ARNG handles it, but I’ll find out once I get to my unit. I’m probably overthinking it. Thank you for your response Sergeant!

Lies. I had a break and became an o9u. I had to go to three phases to get recerted.

I'm not entirely sure what an o9u is but you had to go back to Sam?
