If you reclass as a 74D more than likely you will either be put in a chemical company like I was or you will become a NBC NCO in any other company. If you are no put in a chemical company you there is no telling what unit you will be attached to because there is a NBC guy/gal in every unit. If that is the case you will be in the HQ platoon. Hope this was helpful

As far as reclass training goes you will go through CDTF, Chemical Defense Training Facility. This is where you will get into your Gear and have persistent and non persistent agents brought into the room so you can see how the gear works and how to properly decon yourself and your environment. Kinda creepy but pretty cool.

I was a 74DL4 and when I switched from my Reserve Unit in St. Louis to active duty, "2014", I was reclassified to 88M. the Army at the time was over strength 74D and my experience meant nothing.

No I didn't I was given orders to Ft. Bliss for AIT as an 88M then received orders to Ft. Stuart which was rescinded for Korea in which after Korea I went to Ft. Riley KS. I chalk it up to the luck of the Irish.

When I turned in my paperwork it was out of the recruiters hand. It was the MEMPS station that made the decision. since you want to go Active your Contract as a Reservist has to be rewritten and you won't find out you options until you clear the MEMPS Station.

When I was a recruiter we were pretty brutal to reservists going active. Usually a list of maybe two CONUS and one OCONUS location in your current MOS. If no need for your MOS possibly a chance to reclass in maybe one or two MOS. I always figured the Army felt that you want to do it so take it or leave it. SPC (Join to see)
