Col Rebecca Lorraine - There was no doubt I was being posted to Vietnam. They were distraught because they were certain I would be wounded, killed, or missing. Nothing I could say would reassure them. Even after I came home they felt the war had changed me in fundamental ways they could never understand. We all cried & prayed for the best. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

So really concerned but they didn't try to stop you. It must have been tough.

1LT Sandy Annala We were all changed, but with the constant flow of seriously wounded and dying, you went through hell on a daily basis. My deepest respect.

Very supportive. Of course, they were asking a lot of questions pertaining to my current life situation and how I was going to take care of it. My parents, my inlaws, siblings, husband and my very close friends were very supportive in my decision. My dad cried the night before I left for boot camp when he hugged me. I had never seen my dad cry before that night. I got a lot of cards and letters from my mom and husband while I was at boot camp.

I am answering for Sandra my niece that I accompanied to the recruiter office upon graduating from high school, Sandra asked me because her parents believed that she could not handle military life. My brother and his wife were extremely angry with me, and mad at their daughter for enlisting in 1999. Sandra continues to serve and now hold the rank of Captain and every one is very proud of her; Kosovo, Iraq twice.

CPT Pedro Meza Sir, I did not serve with women when I was active duty. I did work with active duty and veteran women during my civilian career. These women impressed me with their professionalism, attitude, and drive to accomplish the mission.

Sgt (Join to see) - Ted, I joined the ARMY in Jan 1974, and served with WAC, that later became regular ARMY, in 85 I lead a mobile training team in Colombia and was shocked to learn that my team of five and our Colombian escorts were being stalked by two female M-19 rebels, in 2003 I re-enlisted out of the Retired Reserves and was placed in a Civil Affairs Unit with women and deployed in 04-06, with women on the teams and in 2008 worked with the Spanish Foreign Legion that also had women in their teams. I was finally medically retired in Jan 2015, and will say that my experience with Military women both here in the US, Colombia, and Spanish Foreign Legion, all these women have also impressed me with their military bearing and courage. Although in Colombia I did issue the order that we shoot the women first, because those female rebels would not give up and would shoot any men that made deals with us. I am sorry that while in Afghanistan we did not use our females to plan seeds of rebellion with the women there, because the women are key to bringing about change against these religious misguided women hating men.
