I eventually decided to go into business for myself. I found a recruiter who ran a failing blue collar temp service franchise and convinced him to sell it to me, with an option on the permanent placement side. I bought him out after three years.

I heavily patrolled the FSC's in the DC area for senior SNCO's in technical fields. I also contacted every Corporal and above I served with that was out and employed. They were the source for my position leads (Who do you know that is out and working for a company you'd want to work for?) as well as my candidates. Plus, those people who were already employed, got me past gatekeepers before the gate keepers knew I was there. I kept the blue collar business, because it kept the wolves away from the door. The permanent placement was my lifestyle. Eventually I had allies (previous placements) inside that were decision-makers or introduced me to decision-makers. Then I expanded my blue collar temp business. I put discharged vets there to keep the wolves away from the door until I could get them a permanent placement. Raymond, PHR What I liked about searching for a job online was the sorting features the online job search engines provide. I could focus on my state, area, city, job title, keyword, industry etc and not have to run through hundreds of positions. If RP had such a capability perhaps more job seekers would utilize the site and employers would be served by having a more powerful search engine to post on. An on-line search engine is but one of many resources as has been pointed out on RP.
