The only requirement I know for sure is that you must be in compliance with AR670-1 regarding dress/appearance while doing so. If you stand ready for an IG, don't know why it would be a problem. Show up with something out of line and an old Vet is going to call you on it and open up a can of worms. I think that is one of the more appropriate times to wear it. I wont, but only because I am a bit wider around the midsection and cant button the jacket up lol. A pin on my suit lapel or a neat tie tack is probably a cleaner statement of past service. Can never go wrong with a properly tailored suit combo of appropriate colors.
