Having not grown up in the Army, I still feel out of place in field training exercise evolutions. Should I be trying to get some of the "advanced schools," or focus on being the best NCO I can be in my MOS I can be? As an NCO in a special staff MOS, should I be trying to go through any of the special schools like Mountain Warfare, Airborne etc? 2015-02-14T22:16:44-05:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 476793

As most know I am angling to commission as a JAG lawyer within the next year or two, but in the mean time I am trying to be the best NCO and well rounded Soldier I can be. You can also look at online courses and extra schooling that will help. Response by LTC David S. Air assault is good if you are gonna be having stuff sling loaded in. It's not allabout just the schools though, there are classes as well ASV(armored security vehicle) driver/ maintenance class. Until you get to JAG tailor the school & class requests to what best serves your unit, and you think you would enjoy. After you get to JAG a whole new bunch of schools & classes will be opened up to you. Good luck to you SSG.
Watch your six, and keep the rubber side on the pavement.
