As of today I am eligible for a waiver to SPC/ E-4 what can I do to prove that I am worth it?

Not trying to sound callous PFC Livoti, but that should have been your thought process from day one. If it was, and you have been excelling and setting yourself apart, you should be in a position to be competitive for a waiver. If you are just now trying to set yourself apart from your peers, it may very well be a case of too little, too late.
I certainly hope that the former applies to you and I wish you the best. If, by chance, you fall into the later category then take this opportunity to learn and stay ahead of the power curve from this point on; and I still wish you the best!

I would say perform/behave/act as if you were an SPC/E-4, within the constraints of your billet and ability. Actions speak louder then words, if you are already doing the job it is easier to simply make the assignment. Leadership is how you perform not what rank you are given. The rank justifies the performance. Be the leader you want to be promoted to and you will be promoted.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member , during your monthly counseling, ask your first-line leader what you need to do to get their recommendation for the waiver.

Every first-line leader has different expectations. You need to know what impresses them so that they will enthusiastically recommend you and fight for you against the other candidates.

If this is your first waiver, I'd say follow the given advice. As others have said, talk to your first-line. In private is always best, or you can also bring it up during your monthly counseling (if they're doing their job). Let that first-line know that you want to be recommended for a waiver for promotion to E-4. Then, sit back and listen to what they have to say. Do it.

If this is NOT your first waiver, I would caution you and advise you to wait and get that waiver for E-5. You have a lot longer wait for that primary zone E-5 than a waivered E-4. My two cents. Good luck to you.

Go to and win Soldier of the Month/Quarter boards. This is the easiest way to distinguish yourself from your peers.

Ask to go to resident courses and make yourself useful to the unit.
Work on civilian education and do correspondence courses. You should be letting your counselor know all the things that you are doing and he's going to be the one who pushes for your promotion.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member Did you get it? In my unit there are no waivers of any kind. I had to do the whole year to get to PFC, it was kind of dissapointing. Now, thinking about waiting another whole year to get to SPC is hard. Let me know if you made it.

I think it is simple. Show a great attitude. Get the job done with minimal supervision. Become the go to guy, and show them you have the talent to be an E-4.
