As prior enlisted, what am I going to be issued by my unit once I contract with ROTC?

youll start getting E-5 pay and you will be a DOT. Nothing really changes besides that. Did that answer your question ?

It depends on what you already have and what your unit has issued you; as well as if you are SMP or purely Green to Gold. Some cadets at my school have already been issued stuff so they get the schools OCIE, while some don't even get that and get their cadet ranks. Really dependent on what they already have and how they're going about being prior towards commissioning.

Are you:

1) USAR/NG doing SMP?

2) Prior active, having ETS'd, doing ROTC on the GI Bill?

3) Green to Gold?

I'm betting it's #1, so I'll answer that. It will completely depend on your unit. Many USAR/NG members are never given OCIE even as established soldiers in the unit for a year+, just....how the cookie crumbles. You can't really get an answer from strangers on the internet, you'll need to actually talk to your units' supply.

As a prior SMP, all you will really need for the ROTC is a ruck, basic rifflemens set, an LBE if you can get one, and uniforms. These items are usually issued within your basic OCIE issue from your unit and is usually better equipment if you can get it. Whatever you cannot get from your unit you should be able to get from the ROTC, but depending on your program it may not be as good, e.g. Vietnam era equipment that looks like they picked up from an Army Surplus.
