As US involvement in (most) of the GWOT has winded down, what could I expect as a 35M in a day to day life?

My goal at this point is to be a 35 Mike, I've seen it described on here as 80/20 brains vs. brawn, but the post I was looking at a similar post, but it was over 3 years old and I'd like to hear if anyone has any insight, do they deploy a lot? If so, what did you do as a deployed 35M?

This honestly depends primarily on what unit you are assigned to. Are you in a FORSCOM slot (like a BCT or the like) or in a more strategic slot. If you are assigned to a FORSCOM slot like 3ID, 101st, etc. then expect the typical things like motorpool Mondays, STT on Wed or Thurs, typical admin stuff, maintaining field equipment both generic and MOS specific, cross training, BMM taskings, etc. Of course, there will be time for classes as well but you have to be verbal and up fron with your leadership with what classes/courses you want while having expectation management regarding the fact that you won't get everything you want when you want it. There will have to be give and take with mission requirements as well as taskings. If you are in a more strategic oriented slot then the day-to-day will depend on the mission set of the unit along with some typical Army taskings. Also, if you have a language or not and whether your clearance has been adjudicated yet or not will determine where you go and what you are allowed to do.

Thank you Master Sergeant, one of my mentors at Military School was a Senior MSGT, Former Marine, Former Army, and I think he retired in the Air National Guard. He was the Leadership Academy Director (which I was apart of), and a friend of mine and I snuck off campus one day and he vouched for us so we didn't get kicked out. Would have been a bad end to my Senior year.
