Assuming World War III erupts in the US, Middle East or Asia and the US, China, and Russia are involved, is there a logical solution?

Granted; the next world war doesn't appear on the horizon yet, but planning solutions in an event that such a disastrous event dawns upon us is best done during peacetime than once engaged. We should be able to share our assumptions and solutions with our leaders in the DoD and in Congress. Are we in RP equipped to take on such discussions and tasks or do we require outside interference?
