Audie Leon Murphy SHED SOME LIGHT

I have been studying for SAMC. In my research I came across som outlandish accusations about Audie Murphy. He was supposedly arrested/accused of child molestation. I've seen nothing but rediculous "he said/she said stuff but nothing substantial. Please tell me that this isn't true and if it is give substantial evedence not your opinion or "he said/she said". I greatly have admired Sergeant Audie Leon Murphy for years and am honored to be a nominee of the SAMC organization but I have to know this.

In this day and age one may be able to find a lot of information about whomever. During the time Maj Murphy lived it would have been more difficult except for one reason alone, his fame.

With a quick internet search I did not find anything suggestive other than an honorable man with PTSD who gave all to this country in time of need. Definitely a hero at such a young age and he later spoke before congress numerous times about veteran issues.

I am a member of SAMC and did some research when I was prepping for the board. The best I could find for where these accusations came from was he did have an alcohol problem when he came back. He was pulled over with a child in the car that did not belong to him. Couldn't find anything else to validate it though so take it with a grain of salt. There is no hard evidence against him. We live in a day age when the Progressives and Liberals are free to dishonor people, degrade accomplishments, tear down social mores, attack religion, ostracize individuals and redefine and reinterpret what have been accepted for decades simply because they can. Hero's are no exception. NOw that there aren't as many WWII and Korean veterans to defend themselves (and not enough people who are capable of defending them, but choose to be silent, they are going after and challenging what we baned the "Greatest Generation of them all" . Today there are many avenues and different venues to carry their once " crazy, sick, weird and even dangerous opinions and beliefs " to other who are sympathetic and receptive and the same vehicles are being used to disseminate all the bullshit. And last but least, they all push laws to the very limits to fall within the protected safe confines of "Constitutional Rights" and if they're not, they can usually can find some judge or current administration official to legislate from the bench. So to answer your question, Audie Murphy's record is not above attack. What better way than to question his character.

Audie Murphy's true character is nothing short of a hero and honorable! However, nobody is perfect and we should all realize that ALL OF US are sinners. Call it a "mistake" or whatever you want, but nobody since Jesus has been perfect. What's really important here is to focus on what Audie Murphy accomplished during his time of service - he remains one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II, and received every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army.

My caution with any research on anything, is what is the source? Is it a credible media source of record? I.e. NYT, WP, major wire service etc. Is it corroborated by multiple credible sources?

All records in the Audie Murphy child molestation case was sealed by presidential order just after his death in 1971 just weeks before the trial. So we will never know.

I don't know anything about that particular accusation but I do know that Major Audie Murphy (major was his final rank in the Texas National Guard) suffered from alcoholism and depression for a long time after the war. At one point he threw his Medal of Honor away in the middle of the desert. Although we all seek to find perfect heroes we can idolize, we are all imperfect sinners and are, in the end, saved only by God's grace. Like everyone else, Audie Murphy had his flaws. I suggest you find inspiration in his positive qualities and accept his other failings as evidence he was only human.

After WWII, Murphy had PTSD (current terms) and a drinking problem. He was stopped in a car with a child which was not his, but no one accused him of more than giving the kid a ride to the kid's home, Which was very normal for those days.

I heard from senior NCOs that told me it was a sham, Murphy was used to rally the troops much like CPT America did in that movie. They told me he joined the army to run away from the law, and that no one in his unit really liked him. I believe my senior leaders that were against military propaganda than a Hollywood movie manufactured by the US Govt. Just saying Americans get a "historical " movie from Hollywood, and believe it all. Always remember Prescott Bush help fund the Nazi party, and the Japanese ambassadors informed the White House they were attacking Pearl Harbor.
