AUSA Central TX-Fort Hood Chapter President, Ron Taylor, Age 55, , passed away Wed, 2 Sept 2015. He will be missed!

Friends and colleagues were expressing shock and grief Thursday after the death of Killeen bank executive Ron Taylor, the Region 4 president of the Association of the U.S. Army and former president of both the state and local AUSA chapters.

Taylor died Wednesday in Washington, where he was to have received an award.

Taylor retired from the Army in 1999 as a sergeant first class, and had been active with AUSA for 17 years.

"The loss of Ron Taylor has saddened all of us in the AUSA family,” said retired Army Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, AUSA’s president and CEO.

“He was among the finest leaders in our Army and in AUSA. At both the chapter and region levels, Ron Taylor was a tireless and effective advocate for America's Soldiers and their families. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those he touched during his remarkable career."

Fort Hood officials also expressed condolences.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Ron's family and loved ones today," said Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland, III Corps and Fort Hood commander.

"Ron was always a good neighbor to Fort Hood in every sense of the word and a good friend to and supporter of our Soldiers and their families. He will be missed."

Taylor received the organization’s Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge Award, the top award for a retired noncommissioned officer, in 2012.

“I really do love taking care of soldiers,” he said as he accepted it.

He will be MISSED! God Speed Brother!

He never said no to a Soldier in need! He will truly be missed by All! He had a huge impact on the Fort Hood Community!

His impact went far beyond the Fort Hood. I know several people that looked up to him as an example of what it meant to serve those that serve and he is leaving some large holes to fill in the Ft Hood area.
