Aviation maintenance; how to prepare for a civilian career in management? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/aviation-maintenance-how-to-prepare-for-a-civilian-career-in-management <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Please, I'm welcome for opinions but I'm really looking for knowledge here. I have 12 years until retirement and I want to set myself up for a successful career in Aviation after the Army. I don't want to get back into physically working on Aircraft I want to be the Site Supervisor, Regional Manager whatever. I have my A&amp;P, Fiber Optics, FCC and an AAS in Aviation Technology with a concentration in Maintenance. I'm trying to figure out whether to get an BA in Business Administration, a BA in Management or continue with something in Aviation specific. Therefore the question I ask myself is after all the civilian educational and at that point 20 years of service as a Apache repairer in the Army do I need to branch out into the non-maintenance side of things or continue more Aviation specific? Plan for life in 2024. Drone or piloted, design, mechanical, electronic and IT engineering will still be needed. But will fiber be antiquated by then? Will we use the same alloys? Science will make a lot of what we do now obsolete by then. Lots to consider that far out as fast as technology is changing.
