What State do you live in? The 19th and 20th Groups are both National Guard and it's pretty easy for a Guard Member to at least apply. The Guard requires that you go through and pass a 3 day Special Forces Readiness Evaluation before they will send you to assessment. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject. Here is the recruiting information. http://nationalguardsf.com/special_forces.shtml#locations

Sir, I'm in the great state of Texas. I'm mainly looking at options right now between NG and AD. As of yesterday, a recruiter was telling me that it's easier to try to go SF on NG right now.

Either way, I was just curious if it's easier to talk with a NG SF recruiter rather than joining the NG and resuming my 11B MOS. I wasn't sure if a normal NG unit would make it "harder" to go through the try-outs.

SPC Matthew Hoffmann - I don't even know if it's possible for a prior service to re-enlist with 18X option, have to hit the recruiters with that one. Although I have not been active for a number of years now, I will say that I never had a Guard unit stand in my way of changing MOS'/Branches or getting me any school there was funding available to attend. The link above as contact information by state. Just click on Texas and fill out the form. Might have to be a bit patient since the Texas NG is just a bit busy right now.

SFC Jack S. - I believe you have to be interviewed and have a sponsor, so any contact would probably be helpful if he is really interested in going.
BTW, in the National Guard, an 18X contract is referred to as REP63.

Get in the right frame of mind And ask yourself "how do I make this happen and obtaining the right boots, the SOPC special boots make a good first step...

As the SOFREP says:

"If you’re in Fayetteville, go to a used boots store and ask for the ‘SOPC’ Special. SOPC means Special Operations Preparation Course. It’s the course “X-rays” go to before they take a shot at selection. That course is a kick in the nuts. It is rucking and running intensive and these boots were designed for SOPC students."

I have a few pair of good worn in boots and unfortunately, I'm in Texas. I've done the research on it and honestly think I'm more prepared in the mind now rather than I was 9 years ago.

Thanks for the input, ma'am!

The true test for you is the here and now. Looking deep inside and learning what is motivating you and using your mind over matter will guide your fortitude. Find courage to preserve re small and large tasks or goals. Remember what Dr. Seus said:
