Being a 91C can be frustrating at times especially when trying to make E6. I've been sitting at around 703 and still can't get promoted.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is so hard because 91J become are mos after they make E-5 that is why I feel it is so hard. We have to compete with are mos and there mos for E-6. There are not enough people are getting out in the higher positions.SGT Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 05 Oct 2015 03:37:45 -04002015-10-05T03:37:45-04:00Response by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 13 at 2016 3:26 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It's because you have a tiny MOS that requires lots of E4s and very few NCOs. It's the trade off that goes with highly technical MOS's. Combat arms complain they don't have a job that translates into civilian skills and low density MOS's complain they can't get promoted.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 23 Jul 2018 11:40:57 -04002018-07-23T11:40:57-04:00Response by CSM Thomas McGarry made Jul 23 at 2018 11:49 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Believe it or not I had the opposite problem when waiting for promotion to Sergeant Major. I was a 91C M-6 (LPN) in a M-6 slot and even though I was also qualified and had been a 91C at one point, I found out that it was easier to make SM if you were in such a slot. I think its because the cards were stacked against M-6s because many Senior NCOs never became M-6s and a little politics came in to play!CSM Thomas McGarryMon, 23 Jul 2018 11:49:50 -04002018-07-23T11:49:50-04:00Response by PV2 Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 29 at 2019 6:41 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>What suprised me was when I was in I was a 68W M-6 (LPN) and found out it's actually easier to make E-9 as a 68 W (Combat Medic) .
