Contrary to the urban legends you may have heard in basic, there is no extra pay for completing ranger school. There is an automatic promotion to E4. But you’re national guard so it might be years till you get the chance to attend

PV2 (Join to see) - If you qualify for the RTLI in Basic, take advantage of the opportunity while you are there. Returning for Ranger school from the Guard could take years based on your civ job, school, unit optempo, COVID-20, COVID-21, etc.

PV2 (Join to see) Absolutely take it! I went to Ranger School as a PFC and I can’t begin to tell you how it turbo charged my career. It’s a chance you might never get again, or when you do you might be too old, broken, or have too many obligations at home to take

What increase in pay are you talking about? If you mean allowances like HDIP parachute pay, they only apply to the units that are on jump status by MTOE.

Current compensation authorized by law. https://militarypay.defense.gov/Pay/Special-and-Incentive-Pays/Index/#305

If you have the opportunity to attend Ranger school from basic, definitely DO IT! In the NG, you may never get the opportunity again. In my state (IL), we only get maybe one slot per year statewide, and they usually won't fill it because it's too expensive with pay, travel, per diem, and family sep (plus any recycles). Those that have been able to attend are either officers or E6+.
