You'll want to look any place north of the base, Yorktown, Williamsburg. Newport News and Hampton are okay. You do not want to look over the HRBT. traffic sucks in the morning and in the afternoon. I used to work at Fort Eustis (MILPO). it took me 1-2 hours to get to and from work when I lived in Virginia Beach.

I had a house in Riverside which is a neighborhood behind Christopher Newport University. I loved that area and it's about 20 minutes to the post.

While you may not be assigned to it, the 128th Aviation Brigade website (http://www.128ab.tradoc.army.mil) is a great source of information on Fort Eustis. Click the pictures on the homepage for information about the installation. There are also links to a lot of other good information, as well.
