When I was in school pursuing engineering, students had to open a LinkedIn account. It is still considered "social media" but more on the business side, jobs opportunities, network, etc. I haven't been really active for a while, but I would recommend LinkedIn to anyone who is serious in business networking/connections, and certain jobs interests.

LinkedIn. It is a professional networking site that is designed to link employers and employees together.

I use USAJOBS and Indeed sometimes. I don't use any other sites other than that.

LinkedIn, but Behance is good for networking with creative professionals and freelancers.

Georgeann Carter My employer has recruiters that often post job links to LinkedIn and Monster.com. If I post a job, I can also request special sites such as Rigzone.com if I am targeting a specific group of applicants. Most inquiries I receive via LinkedIn are sales calls but occasionally I receive notes from people wanting employment advice or assistance.

I use several...LinkedIn, Indeed, and GlassDoor...I have had more positive feedback from LinkedIn for Exec Jobs....Indeed is really good for techie positions and Glassdoor for everything else. I know some who also used Facebook.

LinkedIn due to networking and being able to upload certificates and resumes. The majority of my jobs I've gotten from knowing someone who gave me a foot in the door though. However, I did get one of my freelancing jobs through a Facebook post. I've been working with that company for over two years now.

As a Federal Employee, I don't use social media to find jobs. I simply go on USAjobs. I will use Linked In to find others in a field if I need information or advice, but not to find jobs.

Ya, I'm in that fully retired group as well, but get on LinkedIn. You can create a profile, civilian words, not military jargon, and LinkedIn will pair that profile with employers. To this day I still get posts from LinkedIn on jobs available for me. It's a great resource just for that but you can also build contacts with individuals working in the industry(ies) you are interested in. The value of a LinkedIn network should not be underestimated when you are job hunting.

I don't use Social media for employment opportunities and only use USA Jobs now for searching for federal positions since I am a GS08.
