Blowing up DTS is not an option, so what recommendations do you have to improve it?

I thought the travel voucher system the Army used before DTS could not get any worse....It seems the Army took it as a challenge and invented DTS. What an inept system and an inefficient way to pay Soldiers.

I don't have any real recommendations to improve it rather I believe the Army should again start on the beginning and try to include some of the people utilizing the new system in development.

Don't Travel Stupid (DTS) was flawed from the get go when it was designed to support the bean counter and not the traveler. Reminds me of "Banks too big to fail" mentality. It really can be redone making sure you dump JAVA. If they really focused on the nonproductive cost of dealing with that system, it'd have more priority. Alas, they just think it's too hard.

The entire business process needs to be reengineered, and THEN they should develop the software to support that. DTS sucks, and blowing it up would be an improvement.

I found most of the frustration to be the several pages which the users had to navigate. Why can't it be placed on one or two pages?

Get rid of the ridiculously stupid questions. (ex: Is this Official Government Travel?) I have found myself frustrated with the system to the point to were by the time I get to that question, I am yelling at my computer, "No you jackass; I like telling you what the hell you already know!"

Put the workload to count beans back on the bean-counter. If there is hotel tax on the reciept I gave you, but I failed to also type it in the correct input field, just put it in; you can see it. Why do people have to be told to help others? I would correct your napkin sketch and build your house properly, rather than keep returning it to you until you guessed right about structural engineering, or let it fall on your head.
