Blue lives matter hashtag in Ferguson, is this in defiance of similar hashtag Black lives matter?

The new hashtag (#BlueLivesMatter) is sure to stir the emotions in an already tense part of the country. Was this done in bad taste? Was it done to keep the tensions high? With the recent shooting of two Police Officers in Ferguson, will this lead to another Police shooting?

I feel that police officer have used a great deal of restraint in view of the recent shooting of several officers who were doing nothing to be targeted, like just sitting in their car drinking coffee. This has to STOP!! We are traveling down a road that none of us want to go. At this rate, the end result will definitely be extremely costly and benifit no one or any group.

This is a bad situation all the way around the jackass that shot those cops is a real piece of work and hopefully the cops will catch him quick. But all this is going to do is make the issues there in MO worse and around the country. If the news is right Holder and Obama are demanding changes in MO. Those 2 knuckle heads need shut up they will screw the situation up. And to think all this for a thug what have we become in this country. But I am afraid more people around this country are going to die because of this shit and its a shame.

As a former police officer, I can not, and will not, put an opinion on weather the officer's killing of Mr. Brown as justified. I was not there, saw no evidence first hand, took any statements, etc., but look at how many lives have been lost and deeply affected by that incident. Violence begets violence, regardless of who's side per se you support.

Perhaps instead of hashtags and rhetoric, we should come together as Americans, support the law of the land, and remember without law what we see as lawless now, will not even hold a candle.

Shootings of anyone is a tragedy. As a law enforcement officer, I know the tragedy of un-holstering a weapon. Also, I know the deep sense of loss when one of our brothers or sisters is killed in the line of duty. Senseless killing is senseless killing.

We also have lost sight of the fact that even with the publicity being placed on these events this still only describes about 1% of all law enforcement officers. The media should also present information about the 99% who help people and provide the "service and protection" we all have.

You cannot remove the human factor. People are not perfect. Some will make mistakes, others will just do the wrong thing.

Pray for everyone who has died. No cause furthers by the death of anyone. Death, after all, is inevitable, but I for one am in no hurry.

The following quote is from the 1970's tv series Adam-12 episode called "Elegy for a pig". The main character was dealing with the loss of a long time friend and fellow cop.

And if there must be a final postscript to all of this, then let it here be noted: the coffin will soon be buried. He will be forgotten except by a very few. Out of sight, out of mind. I sure hope this doesn't keep going cause I really don't want to have to do another emergency duty there because people want to be ignorant or they do not want to take responsibility for their actions. I guess people really just don't understand that for every action there will be an equal or opposite reaction to what they do. Plus this is tearing this nation apart.
