I've never spent much time in the field or did anything rigorous, but now I'm looking at the heavier Salomon Guardians. I'm looking for recommendations. Thanks! What are some good boot recommations for someone reclassifying to 68W?2021-12-26T15:49:33-05:00CPL Private RallyPoint Member7441793<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm looking to reclass to 68W and I've always worn the lighter Nike's. I've known medics that wouldn't touch anything but Danners. Me personally: If it's cold and/or I need amaze-balls ankle support, Rocky's, all day. If I'm in garrison or a garrison like environment (think clinic rotation / sick call / company BS), Oakley's all day (and night).Response by SPC Israel Sanders made Dec 27 at 2021 4:06 AM2021-12-27T04:06:41-05:002021-12-27T04:06:41-05:00Sgt William Margeson7443607<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The best boot I have ever used, was the old rough leather issue boot. Soak them in water, then wear them till they dried. They form fitted to your foot, were a bitch to shine, but I never had a blister or sore foot from them, even on 20 + mile strolles in the boonies. Cost $ 8.50 each, and they could be resoled for $1.75. Then came the soft leather boot. Never fit right, and caused lots of blisters!! Don't really know about modern issue boots, but they are too expensive and probably don't wear well. Keep in mind this was all; back in the 60's, as a Marine 0311 ( infantry ).Response by Sgt William Margeson made Dec 27 at 2021 6:19 PM2021-12-27T18:19:04-05:002021-12-27T18:19:04-05:00CPL Private RallyPoint Member7468841<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Another great boot that is both light weight and offers great ankle support are the research tactical's. Another pair of boots I had that were absolutely amazing were the rather cheap Belleville's. They are very light weight and felt EXTREMELY therapeutic. Anytime I ever rolled my ankle and wore my Belleville's, I often had better mobility compared to the basic boots. Did a whole lotta rucking in them bad boys even on the bad days!Response by CPL Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 11 at 2022 6:31 AM2022-01-11T06:31:07-05:002022-01-11T06:31:07-05:002021-12-26T15:49:33-05:00
