Further, the extra cost that would be incurred and the additional coverage and heartache caused by all the automatic appeals and motions would just be salt in wounds. Life without parole. Permanent loss of liberty, and maybe a little Roman-Style Damnatio memoriae for him and his brother seems appropriate. However I feel the death penalty has become to light. Many who get put on it spend 15-20 years doing appeals, what is the point? My thoughts... 1 appeal and done. Within 6 months max of being assigned the death penalty, it should be carried out. Save the taxpayers some money and use a bullet or a rope. Both are cheap. Death penalty. I haven't done research but I want to assume by setting the death penalty for this crime, others would tread carefully with anything regarding terrorism. There's a lot of wannabes that just join the cause for the hell of it. Hey, let's go be terrorists and they really don't know what they're getting themselves into. Death penalty puts things into perspective. I'd hope the trend of joining an extremist group would lessen with this example. Yea, I know, wishful thinking.

If the crime fits, death penalty is fine with me. Then I remember how effective our justice system "CAN" be. That's where I feel the most conflicted.

Good topic! I'll be thinking about this all day.
