Broadening Assignments after Company Command?

I have always heard that you learn a ton about your craft doing a CTC as an OC/T, but what other broadening assignments out there are worth pursuing?

Working in acquisitions CPT. You get to see how the military is run and payed for through contracts and purchasing. Gives you an entirely new perspective on why things happen the way they happen, and for what reason you are using the equipment you are using.

TWI (Trining with Industry) I hear is great. Any competetive fellowship accademic/congressional is great too. There I more thatn just Big Army out there, so even a stint in 160th or 75th cvan be grreat for broadening. Take a look at the Branch page on HRC they list all Broadening assignments and the Pre-requisites.

I am going to the AC to be with the XVIIIth as a liasion officer. I get to jump again and experience Corps level operations.

A Pentagon tour would broaden your mind as to just how much thought goes into the decision making process that will affect many thousands. You'd be amazed!

I think it's a tough call between becoming an OC/T (to gain more branch specific expertise) or voyaging into unfamiliar territory. I appreciate the strategic-level knowledge I've gained on the Joint Staff. It may be misleading to lump those two distinct areas together under "broadening."

Give MCTP a call, they are always looking for OCTs and you get to travel the world.

Definitely CTCs. I would recommend fully funded graduate school, USMA staff and faculty, TAC Officer (which is what I did; one of my favorite jobs ever), and ROTC APMS.
