"Buddy" or "Battle" In Distress. Which term to use? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/buddy-or-battle-in-distress-which-term-to-use <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Some say Battle. Some say Buddy. Since I am retired Navy, and we don't call each other "battle", I use Buddy. A battle is an engagement with a foe (enemy, illness, problem). And I have no idea what Coast Guard personnel would be called. I never liked the term "Battle Buddy" and "Battle" is just a bastardization of that. I have always referred to my friends from the military as my "buddies" civilians are just friends.
