If so, how likely are they to get it if they apply for it? I think I will want to deploy way more often than my National Guard unit after I commission.

Short answer yes. They keep changing the name but there is a NG website that posts both AGR positions and deploying unit shortages. Used to be called Tour of Duty.

The Air Force has a similar site. I was able to backfill 2 units going to Iraq. I did a 1 year stateside TDY and a 6mo stateside TDY. I also did a 2mo TDY with an Army Supply Unit. My Unit deployed twice to Iraq. I was able to go once and had a broken ankle the other time. This was between 2003 and 2009. The thing with this is your home unit has to sign off on your travels.

You can always look for deployment opportunities on the Tour of Duty website https://mobcop.aoc.army.pentagon.mil/

I recommend building your profile/resume on it and updating it at least annually and as things change (ie PT test, OER, awards, PME); in other words, update it as you would your personnel file. Each announcement may ask for additional documents. When you want to apply for something, you’ll be good to go for the exemption of a couple of documents such as letter of recommendation or RPAM statement (if applicable) that may require a particular date stamp on it.

Good luck!
