It gives you diversity. Definitely try to excel in the position and you should be G2G. <br /><br />I had the opportunity to attend the SAMS-E course as a 92Y and it was a good experience to get the training that 92A’s use for motor pool operations. If that’s what you really want, go for it. I know units can substitute just about any MOS for certain jobs that are needed that they don’t have, there are consequences. Better to work IN your MOS than take a chance of missing a promotion because you aren’t working in that MOS. <br /><br />You could however get 92Y as a Secondary MOS and solve that problem. I carried three. 92Y, 12B, and 12E. Once that is accomplished, then it can be a good assignment to broaden your skillset.<br />. Being that 92A and 92Y are so similar in nature it can be done and has been in cases, especially when talking about deployments. It is usually left to the discretion of the BN level commander and CSM to allow these kinds of cross levels.
