Generally, a crack in the rear view mirror does not deadline a vehicle unless it is that extreme that it completely blocks your view. However, in the PMCS section of the 10 manuals it will very specifically state if it does or not. If it is silent than the answer is no. That being said? The Commander can put their two cents in and say it is an admin deadline at their discretion. Look at your deadline report numerous times daily, and make sure all deadline parts are on order against the correct vehicles with a good status.

Do not hesitate to contact your Support Battalion (SPO) and get some help chasing parts and statuses. It takes some time but we did it in a transportation company and it worked well.

To answer your question, i think it comes down to the severity of the crack. A crack itself doesnt deadline the vehicle but the lack of a mirror or a crack so bad there might as well not be a mirror would deadline the vehicle. I think that is a operator level maint. Find the operator a mirror, if they say its deadlined look it up in the tm. If it is and you cant get a part, have the commander sign off that it is operational... takes a unit commander. Don't let some pogue try to skate on duty over a mirror. I have seen cracks that are just simple every day faults and some that caused a vehicle to be deadlined and even some situations where it was on the commanders discretion who and when they were ok with the truck being used. But it depend if that mirror can cause a blinding visual view to see out of then you can deadline it. It will be a safety deadline.
