If the CDR and 1SG want the Soldier to stay in the barracks for longer then they will need to submit an exception to policy memo through unaccompanied housing office (UHO) with specifics to why they Soldier needs to reside in barracks while receiving BAH. There are exceptions - like financial hardship, etc., but this ETP is needed as a support document for when they conduct an audit of the barracks. Hope this helps. When my ex-wife and I separated, she was authorized to stay in the base housing unit and I was moved to the barracks. I never moved back into the house after she was packed and moved. The only time I saw that house again was cleaning it for clearing it to ensure permanent stay in the barracks. And this was my command directive. I read these posts that indicate how hard to get a bunk in a barracks. Don't units get enough barracks space for the number of soldiers on the TOE/TDA?
