Can a married soldier stay in the barracks?

I have a soldier who he and his wife are going thru a seperation. Can he and for how long is he able to live in the barracks? Anybody ha e experience with this before I bring it to my leaderships attention?

Married Soldiers who are receiving BAH can reside in the barracks for 72hrs (cool off room) without an exception to policy (ETP). If the CDR and 1SG want the Soldier to stay in the barracks for longer then they will need to submit an exception to policy memo through unaccompanied housing office (UHO) with specifics to why they Soldier needs to reside in barracks while receiving BAH. There are exceptions - like financial hardship, etc., but this ETP is needed as a support document for when they conduct an audit of the barracks. Hope this helps.

Having been thru this myself, actually, I can tell you what happened to me. When my ex-wife and I separated, she was authorized to stay in the base housing unit and I was moved to the barracks. I never moved back into the house after she was packed and moved. The only time I saw that house again was cleaning it for clearing it to ensure permanent stay in the barracks. And this was my command directive.

Yes, but the soldier must follow all the barracks SOP, to include duty , crufew , and appearance

Is there a severe shortage of barracks space in the Army? I read these posts that indicate how hard to get a bunk in a barracks. Don't units get enough barracks space for the number of soldiers on the TOE/TDA?
