Can a Master Sergeant be a Drill Instructor, whether a Senior DI or a Chief DI?

Or maybe he's at the end of his tour and hes been a gunny since he started and now he rates the promotion and gets pinned Before his DI tour ends

I think so because when I was at MCAS Beaufort SC in May & June, I met some PI drills. One was a Sergeant Major, one a Capt, several Gunny’s, and a few Master Guns. Not sure of the Marine Corps regs; however, these drills were at PI!

Hmm for the captain. That's odd, to my knowledge officers dont wear campaign covers. Let alone be drill instructors. Maybe he was a PMI commander? And for the sergeant major. They aren't drill instructors(they were at one point). But if they're a sergeant for a recruit training battalion. Then they rate the campaign, as long as they were prior drill instructors. According to my knowledge and what I've seen.

Yes! He is an awesome guy and has a wonderful sense of humor! They were staying at the BOQ where I was staying. Their class was scheduled to start on Monday and they were doing their last pre-cycle training before moving into their rooms at PIPO3 Gerald Mercado
