Can a PLT SGT try to get a injured soldier separated from the Army via medical chapter or MEBBOARD?

Can they try to bar from re enlisting because of being on a profile and not being able to preform any duties until your medical situation is resolved

Your NCO's can recommend whatever they want, only your commanders can actually initiate any action. AR 635-200 may have pertinent information for you.

You're asking about a bar, MEB and Chapter, these are all different things. Your PSG is not the authority for any of these things.

A MEB requires a permanent profile from your PCM to initiate

Injury and profile are not a valid reason to bar a Soldier

Theres no such thing as a medical chapter and all chapters are approved at the Brigade and higher level

Ok, let me put this loud and blunt for you and for anyone else reading. As far as bars, flags, or anything derogatory outside of an counseling statement.

A section leader, squad leader, platoon sgt, even your 1SGT are all powerless. The power lies with your commander. Any of the above can speak to your commander about it but the decision is his to initiate and in the case of chapters those are approved at the Brigade+ level. MEB requires a permanent profile from your PCM to even start.

All the above can TRY all they like but their voices are advice only. Period. They do not hold any significant sway or power. IE It sounds like a PLT SGT is blowing smoke up your six. Ignore them. If you have concerns, bypass the barracks lawyer wannabe and go use your 1SG and/or CO open door policy.

Only the Commander can bar you. Now keep in mind they will listen and sometimes strongly with the PSG/1SG, if they are good. NCO's are advisors, not rulers. But cross them at your own risk- we have long memories and your life and be altered.

The PSG has nothing to do with bars to reenlistment or Medboard. I'd be talking to my 1SG if a PSG was acting like they have any control in these things.

Can you offer up some more details here? Your PSG cant actually do any of that other than refer you up the chain of command or offer input.

If your COC is trying to put you out over medical, you may want to let them. Your MOS may not require a lot of physical activity, but if you are in bad enough shape that your unit wants to boot you, it may be for your own good. Here is why:
-VA benefits can be hard to get, a medboard can make them easier to get, especially if your medical comdition wss caused by service.
-Medical Retirement (I think this is actually what you were asking about) comes with a couple of programs that re-train you for civilian life.
-GI Bill benefits are really good, and depending on your disability rating, you may get them for as long as you want to go to school (vs X# of months that I got, so you could get a doctorate).

But if you want to stay in, you need to focus on getting better, or if thats not possible getting your profile squared away.

You're an 89A, stock control. That's a desk job.
If you're unable to perform stationary, computer tasks, it might very well be MEB time, but that will be the Commanders decision, the Platoon Sergeant can only suggest it.

While most MEB/PEB actions occur when a military member voluntarily presents him/herself at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) for medical care, commanders may, at any time, refer military members to the MTF for a mandatory medical examination, when they believe the member is unable to perform his/her military duties due to a medical condition. Bar to Reenlist: Initiated by the Commander, and Officer. Cannot be initiated by the Platoon Sergeant. An NCO. Bar to Reenlist are initiated for reasons that do not include injuries nor being on profile.

MEDBOARD: Initiated ONLY by the Primary Care Provider based on a Permanent Profile that has a 3 or a 4 in any of the PULHES categories.

Medical Chapter: Never heard of such thing.
