My flight from my place in Texas to Ohio for reserves got cancelled last second and I literally leave for active duty after me attending my last drill weekend. Due to this cancellation (Southwest) I’m wondering if I even have to go ALL THE WAY to my reserve unit just to turn in my gear. <br /><br />May someone elaborate on this? Thank you!Can a Reservist turn in their TA-50 at any reserve location?2021-11-01T21:19:32-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member7347081<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hey guys, going from Reserves to Active Duty. In the National Guard, it was a different story.<br /><br />I hope we have some body types that would confirm this but I actually think it depends on the unit S4 NCOIC. As you know, they can pull up your clothing record anywhere. They can sign off on it and send it back to Sierra or the main Depot but some may be lazy. Hopefully, you have someone here who can answer and you willing to take your gear. I just turned in my gear two months ago because I'm retiring at the end of December but I was with the same unit for over 2 years.<br /><br />Let me reach out to a couple people I know.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 1 at 2021 9:25 PM2021-11-01T21:25:55-04:002021-11-01T21:25:55-04:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member7347174<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I turned in all of my Active Duty TA 50 at the National Guard CIF. As long as thr location is connected to the system you can do it.<br /><br />Just find the closest issue point and contact them.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 1 at 2021 10:44 PM2021-11-01T22:44:52-04:002021-11-01T22:44:52-04:00PO1 Don Uhrig7347204<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes. Hell, you can turn it in at a UPS Store. But if you want to turn in your gear to the correct location CHECK WITH YOUR UNIT. Don't count on a social media site to cover for your inability to turn in gear properly and be properly reimbursed for travel etc.Response by PO1 Don Uhrig made Nov 1 at 2021 11:16 PM2021-11-01T23:16:33-04:002021-11-01T23:16:33-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member7347590<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When I retired from the Reserves they actually had me drive up to Ft. If you were guard that would be different the state buys a lot of their own gear hence why a lot of states have outdated stuff! You will probably keep a lot of the gear and even get a lot of other gear once you go Active and get to first duty station! I hope this helps and good luck young SGT!Response by SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 2 at 2021 10:58 AM2021-11-02T10:58:36-04:002021-11-02T10:58:36-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member7347681<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So unfortunately, they said not to turning it into another reserve center. But fortunately, I got my flights fixed, otherwise they were gonna make me pay for the shipment.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 2 at 2021 11:24 AM2021-11-02T11:24:54-04:002021-11-02T11:24:54-04:00SFC Randy Hellenbrand7348164<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Oh boy, wonderful South West. Talk to some people from your unit BECAUSE THE PAPERWORK!!!! Yup that thing we all hate has to get covered. You should be able to do it at any unit. Just get a copy for yourself. Worst case, take it with you and let some bean counter will figure it out when you get where you're going. Do not just leave it someplace.Response by SFC Randy Hellenbrand made Nov 2 at 2021 5:41 PM2021-11-02T17:41:57-04:002021-11-02T17:41:57-04:002021-11-01T21:19:32-04:00
