Can a single soldier live off post?

I moved off post with my girl friend I dont have any discipline issues never late and maintain a clean barracks.. I pay for it out of pocket I like to think I'm squared away.. can my chain of command make me move and can I get the ar to reference thanks

Did you get permission from your Chain to move off post with the understanding that you will maintain a barracks room? Do they have the address of your off post residence? Also, if you read AR 210-50 Section 3-36, I would say you are not in good standing of the regulation as how I understand the regulation.

I was a single E-5 living in the barracks when the 1SG kicked me out and made me move off post to make room for lower enlisted Soldiers. It's up to you where you decide to stay after duty hours, but as long as you are single, you will maintain a barracks room. As long as you are on time and the chain of command knows your whereabouts, then you are fine. As soon as there is lateness or other issues, back to the barracks you go.......

Could be different with the Army, but for us a Junior Marine could move off base if they submitted a move out form with the barracks manager. Here's the thing though, you will not rate BAH.

The common running theme here is to check with your chain of command and see what they say. If you were squared away you would have already asked your chain of command and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Remember always, always ask first. The worst that can happen is they say no, and don't get upset if you get an answer you don't like.

Say you were at your off base home and there was an all hands recall back to the office for some safety reason and your phone is dead, off, or not near you. They are going to first go check your barracks room, then they are going to blow up your phone, and then they will find out you've been maintaining an off base housing arrangement without updating your contact info and address so they know where to find you.
