SPC Private RallyPoint Member3795499<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So a little backstory first. On my monthly counseling back in March, my NCO that was PCSing said he was going to recommend me for the promotion board next month. I said my Roger and started studying. April comes and I was not on the list. Come June, I was told (By my new NCOIC who hasn't even started inprocessing) two days before the board that I had to attend the board and get my P status. Granted, I was flustered, angry even. But I was always told to be prepared for something like this. I had my uniform together, I studied everything before hand so the knowledge part wasn't a problem. The day of the board my 1SG comes to me and says "Because your packet was not set up, you cannot do the board." How? When she was the one that told my NCOs to tell me to get ready? She then talked to my first line and said that because she (me) was recommended for the board and "couldn't go" (I was standing there) I was going to be barred for reenlistment. That did not make a lick of sense to me. Then later, my first line got chewed out by my NCOIC saying that it was her fault for not having me prepared? So now I am barred until I go to the promotion board in August. Everyone I talked to (Peers and Senior NCOs) said that it made no sense and it doesn't. I was willing to do the board but was turned away, and my first line and I were punished.<br /><br />I know this was long but no one in my NCO support channel seems to know how I got barred. I did not get the chance to check my ERB yet, but I am pretty sure that bar is there. Can a soldier get flagged or barred for not attending the promotion board, especially when they wanted to go?2018-07-15T13:25:49-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member3795499<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So a little backstory first. If so it says exactly what you need in your packet. Yes your NCO Should have squared you away. When it comes to promotions its yours. Do not rely on others. I'm pretty sure you will not be barred. If so you need to talk to your command 1st then go speak to IG.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 15 at 2018 5:56 PM2018-07-15T17:56:55-04:002018-07-15T17:56:55-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member3828772<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is your career and you responsible for ensuring that the board packet is complete and turned into S1. He was highly deployed, he would sign up for schools only to be deployed a few weeks before class. He transferred only to get into a unit gearing up to be deployed. Finally after 12 years he’s removed for not being promoted. Maxed APFT. Height/weight great. Great reviews, counciling supposedly. <br />I call it Poor leadership. He went into driving cross country trucks. He’s now an instructor in a well respected truck driving school over a million miles no tickets/accidents. Licensed for virtually anything with wheels, hazmat etc. as much as he wanted to stay in he found his calling outside the military.Response by MSG William Wold made Apr 15 at 2021 3:09 PM2021-04-15T15:09:38-04:002021-04-15T15:09:38-04:00Sgt Dale Briggs7195313<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Why’s 90% plus of the problems here Army?
