The unit commander prescribes the uniform for a particular formation. Unclear on what your mechanics gloves look like. The glove that is clothing bag is the black leather utility gloves with wool insert unless they have issued something else from CIF.

AR 670-1
2–5. Commanders
a. Look at AR and DA Pam 670-1 and it will tell you what gloves you can wear.
Mechanics brand gloves with the logo on them do not meet the standard for wear in formations. They are considered a safety item and can be authorized by the commander for wear in connection with missions again refer to AR 670-1.
We had an issue with them down range and had to watch for them on missions, the material they are made of while tactile does not meet the flash heat requirements and they can melt to your flesh in IED strikes.
So they are awesome for the mechanics working on vehicles in the motor pool but that's where they need to stay. You should look exactly as they do in regards to gloves or no gloves, or anything else for that matter. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 01 Mar 2019 16:46:49 -0500 2019-03-01T16:46:49-05:00 Response by CPL Jeremy Glenn made Mar 2 at 2019 9:31 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-a-soldier-wear-gloves-in-formation?n=4413503&urlhash=4413503

Everything boils down to commander’s discretion. Does that job require you to wear mechanics gloves at any time for your mos duties? Were they issued? Or were you wearing them just because? You write that you’re getting a counseling for wearing them, when told to remove them did you remove them or did you go barracks lawyer and tell the person they were wrong?
