Can a soldier who is deployed to Jordan for a training mission wear a deployment patch?

i have a soldier deploy to jordan in support of a training mission with the jordanian army,
i am curious as to if this soldier is alowed to wear a deployment patch for being in jordan seeing how people i know who went there previously were able to wear one, he has ammended orders that say iraq, jordan, syria etc. and will be there for over a month just curious as to what i should tell him

There is no such thing as a deployment patch. It is Former War Time Service.

Actually it's an SSI-FWTS (Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service). If you're going to make corrections, make sure your corrections are correct.

SP5 Peter Keane - That's the proper nomenclature out of AR 670-1 there high speed. That was a name, not an instruction manual. It's not nitpicking, it's called being accurate.
Just say "Hooah SGT" and move out young former SPC... It's ok to be wrong, don't compound it with being wrong AND being an ass about it. Be an elder worth respecting.

AR 670-1(16) "Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR): between 15 June 2014 and a date to be determined, for Soldiers deployed to Iraq, Jordan, or Syria in support of OIR, who received combat zone tax exclusion and hostile fire/IDP as identified by CENTCOM Command Center-Joint Staff for Personnel and Administration. Soldiers who were deployed in the area of operations on training exercises or in support of operations other than OIR are not authorized the SSI-FWTS, unless those exercises or operations became combat or support missions to OIR."

i read that aswell but was still unsure because it falls under OIR, but he falls under OEF

SSG (Join to see) - Jordan to support Afghanistan? That is rather bizarre. Jordan isn't listed as a support area for OEF under the SSI regulations. According to the DFAS website, hazard duty pay in Jordan ended June 2016.

I think it'll depend on what the orders say. If they were in support of OIR or another operation they may depending on length. However if it was just being put on orders to go there and cross train, they probably won't have a patch authorized. I went to Jordan for a week in 2008(?) to cross train their military and we did not get a patch for that.
