Each CMF has personnel that manages more than one MOS at a time, so if the assignments manager is the same for 25L and 25W are the same, then he can. The 25L should already be working on getting an assignment that will continue to challenge him as a leader and mentor. He should call (and email) Branch as soon as humanly possible, Chief. Livingroom, but be careful. You may not be filling an MTOE slot where you can actually progress in your career and end up with duty titles on your ERB, like 'excess personnel'. All in all, it's your career.. Take control of it and best of luck! If your CSM (or SGM these sad days) was worth a s##t, they should be doing their job and taking care of the next wave of SENIOR NCOs. Rarely will a Battalion CSM and God help us, it would take the Second Coming for a Brigade CSM to make the call to assist a FELLOW SENIOR NCO. More often than not, you get sanctimonious waves of "I GOT MINE. YOU GET YOURS! What a fantastic thing that is for Our Beloved Army. The 'Perfumed Princes' forget, due to lack of oxygen from their heads being up their fourth point of contact, the simple, realistically achieved principle of SELFLESS SERVICE. The hypocrisy that drones about these individuals is mind numbing. Pathetic as it may be, these self absorbed A-holes think they "command respect" when it's the exact reciprocal. It makes their existence so damn easy when they've generated a climate where younger Soldiers fear asking any 1SG/CSM a question and the NCOs are sure they couldn't care less about them.
So, NO!, it's fine for you to call branch. No other person is more responsible for your career than you.
My rant was to demonstrate WHAT YOU ARE NOT TO BECOME. My rant was GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO BE!
