Can a unit armorer also be the ammo carrier? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-a-unit-armorer-also-be-the-ammo-carrier

Recently I was told that I will be the new ammo carrier as well as one of the new armorers. Just out of curiosity, is there a conflict of interest here, or am I ok to go ahead with the trainings and paperwork? Are you talking about being delegated authority to go to the ASP and draw and turn in ammunition on a 581? You need to be appointed, signature card and an Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives background check....which you needed to be the unit Armorer. The S2 in my units were Point on this check. You'll need to check in with the BN ammunition manager in S3 because they usually have a consolidated BN level signature card for 581s. Also you can't draw munitions that have not been forecasted and allocated to your unit.

The Battalion should be able to answer all these questions between the S2 and S3 shop. There is likely a command inspection checklist for this as well.

Do not store ammunition in your arms room without a memo from your unit Commander authorizing you to do so. It is limited to a certain comparability type, NEW, and types. It is also for a limited duration, usually overnight or over a weekend until you can turn it in to the ASP. Most division posts have an AHA that is centrally guarded where drawn ammo sits overnight for gunneries and the like. You must do as ordered. Heck, the additional training may come in handy some day. LTC Ken Connolly Mon, 03 Jun 2019 21:14:14 -0400 2019-06-03T21:14:14-04:00 2019-06-03T09:59:46-04:00
