Can active guard or reserve return to their previous jobs after retirement?

To make it clear, can National Guard or Reserve personnel leave a full time job, go Active Guard/Reserve, WITHOUT being activated for theater operations, remain in active status for 20+ years, retire and resume their previous job?

You were gone for over 5 years I don't think USERRA applies here but I would ask them to find out.
