Can an Army Reserve unit block my transfer to another unit? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-an-army-reserve-unit-block-my-transfer-to-another-unit <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m in the army reserves and I am accepting a new job that will require me to live almost 800 miles away from my current unit. There is a unit within commuting distance from my new location that is the same MOS. With this said my question is: can my current unit prevent me from switching units? They mentioned that they expect to mobilize in 2 years. The Commander is not required to approve the transfer request. If the Commander for your current unit needs you in that slot, then you will be staying put. I forgot to add that your transfer request, when submitted, still needs to run thru ALL the channels it is supposed to run thru. It doesn&#39;t stop at your unit Commander&#39;s desk. Or rather, it&#39;s not supposed to stop there. And most commands are reciprocal as transfers flow in both directions.
