A NCO can give corrective training to a Soldier but it must be directly related to the deficiency.

EXAMPLE: PVT Snuffy shows up to formation in the wrong uniform after the correct uniform was put out.

SSG Hardcore requires PVT Snuffy to report to the CQ desk three times a day. In the morning PVT Snuffy will be in APFU. In the afternoon he will be in duty uniform and in the evening he will be in ASUs. SSG Hardcore will be present to inspect PVT Snuffy each time.

AR 600-20 CSM Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 24 Jun 2016 11:19:51 -0400 2016-06-24T11:19:51-04:00 Response by 1SG Christopher Verga made Jun 24 at 2016 11:26 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-an-nco-give-extra-duty-without-an-article-15-and-which-adp-covers-extra-duty-and-corrective-training?n=1660287&urlhash=1660287

NCOs can not give extra duty. They can give corrective training. With the corrective training the punishment must fit the crime. Extra duty can be imposed under ARTICLE 15, the NCO can recommend a punishment of extra duty to the commander, though can not impose it. Hope this helps. 1SG Christopher Verga Fri, 24 Jun 2016 11:26:09 -0400 2016-06-24T11:26:09-04:00 Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 24 at 2016 11:27 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-an-nco-give-extra-duty-without-an-article-15-and-which-adp-covers-extra-duty-and-corrective-training?n=1660294&urlhash=1660294

We give corrective training, not extra duty. This SNCOs corrective training was to tack on an hour ( next of fence was 2hrs to his shift. Now since the work had already been assigned and an extra body would have messed up my night shifts work flow, I needed to assign the airman a task for those extra hrs, right? He washed my vehicles and dos FIDwalks through my cargo yard until he Kleenex the importance of setting his alarm clock. It is and was a means of punishment used to avoid going the next step, and it was a good thing, unless it was abused. Better to have a little extra work over a fouled record.
