Howdy! I'm a 73B reservist and have spent significant time on the active component side as well. Both are rewarding but in very different ways. On the active component side Uncle Sam "loves you 24/7," or so they say. You're definitely immersed in the center of Army mental health in more ways than one. Meanwhile, as a reservist, you get the unit opportunity to get involved in medical operations in ways that are harder to do on the active side. I found that I got a LOT more involved in medical operations and planning after I crossed over to the reserve component--I attended 70H school, served as a day-shift battle Major for USAREUR surgeon cell, serve as an MMB XO, medical OC/T, etc. Either way is rewarding, it just depends on what your career goals are.
