Audie Murphy is renown for his service in the 3rd Infantry Div. during WWII, and as well as being the most decorated WWII Veteran. The attributes of the fictional SGT Morales are very similar to that of Audie Murphy from his early days thru their service in the Army. I believe it was intentional that when Gen Blanchard created the SGT Morales Club, he did this intentionally. Yet with SGT Murphy being a 3ID Hero, he wanted to create a more modern era image for the Soldiers and NCOs of USAREUR to identify with. Here is some background. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.mihalko-family.com/Sergeant-Morales-Club.htm">http://www.mihalko-family.com/Sergeant-Morales-Club.htm</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="http://www.mihalko-family.com/Sergeant-Morales-Club.htm">Sergeant Morales Club</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">Mihalko family in Germany</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 07 Sep 2014 15:30:40 -0400 2014-09-07T15:30:40-04:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2014 6:54 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-anybody-explain-to-me-how-is-sgt-morales-a-fictional-character-board-equivalent-to-sgt-audie-murphy-board?n=233844&urlhash=233844 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Neither is superior to the other, the process is still the same regardless. <br />I think a better question would be why do people make a false assumption that people who attend these boards are in some way superior to others? <br />I know of plenty of piss poor leaders that were groomed by &quot;friends&quot; and attended these boards merely to assist them in promotions. I have also seen quite a few do things that would have gotten the average soldier hammered but due to their affiliation it was swept under the rug. Luckily many on the selection boards these days were not part of the good ol boy group and can see through it and are getting the trash out. <br />Audie Murphy was a great soldier, but only during war. His life outside of uniform is not something that soldiers should emulate. As for SGT Morales, well it&#39;s fiction, enough said. As President of the Sergeant Morales Club in USAG-Bavaria Germany I realize that it takes talent for individuals to get through the nomination process and inducted but it takes commitment and character to maintain the standards thereof. I always tell every single candidate that undergoes the process the Medallion does not make the individual; the individual makes the medallion. The true benefits of these clubs are not self promotion or recognition, but upholding Army values and contributing vast amount of hours back to Soldiers, communities and organizations outside of one&#39;s footprint. These clubs develop Non Commissioned Officers to better their knowledge base, records, and leadership style through a constant funnel of wisdom from Command Sergeants Major and Leaders in the community that SAMC and SMC members are privy of. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to partake in this nomination process take full advantage of it, now more than ever!
