Can anyone tell me what to expect at AIT being prior enlisted? Will i be treated any differently? (not to sound conceited) I've been enlisted 3 years, currently deployed with the 82nd. Do you do standard army PT every day? Can i go to a gym on my own time? Will being airborne now be a factor in where i get stationed, and where are possible stations? Thank you for any information you can give.

Generally, prior service are separated from IET students. They usually live in separate barracks, have separate cadre, and have more liberties. You would attend your classes with IET students, but for the most part your interactions would be limited and socialization frowned upon outside of the schoolhouse.

When I reclassed most of our time outside of the classroom was our own except for daily PT.

Keep in mind I’m generalizing. Personal experiences may vary depending on MOS and location. The Army does prefer to keep the salty prior service grumps away from their fresh meat as much as they can though.

Being Airborne could send you back to Bragg, or get you sent to Europe with 173rd, Alaska with 4-25 or Group if you end up with Shadow. If Grey Eagle, kiss jumping goodbye.

Also we do not PT with IET soldiers. We are released and conduct PT on our own
