I'm currently using the Reefmaster Mini and Mini II with a wide angle lense, one strobe and one video light. I have a little over $1000.00 invested in it but looking for something better yet still easy to use.

I have had great success with reliability, ease of use and the quality of pictures with the G12. Current version is the G16 so it is significantly better.

What I will say is that if you are considering buying it, I'd maybe wait until the G17 comes out to either get the newest version or to get a G16 cheaper. Or you could buy a G15 now. Historically cannon has kept the new version very close to the same price and the older one has dropped significantly.

I have all ikelite accessories, including a video and a still strobe that I use together.

edit: Have been trying to find a link that shows up better in the thread.

What housing did you get for it?

It's the ikelite one for it. I have to double check the codes, but it's the full one that is a large rectangle, not the one that's relatively small and somewhat camera shaped. I have a dual tray on the bottom with handles and strobes. I'll see if I can find a picture of it or the code/item number.

Looks like this but I bought the dual tray (still have the single arm just in case though).

I have a Canon G16 and just bought the Fantasea housing for it. I am going to dive the Barrier Reef with it in a couple weeks - I will try to let you know how it works out. I don't know if it would be an improvement over your current system or not. It does take RAW photos which gives great post-processing capabilities.

SGT Eric Dziekan - Just got done with three days of diving the GBR with my G16 and Fantasea housing. I haven't invested in strobes yet so I am sure I did not get the full potential out of the camera, and I still on vacation so I haven't got a chance to look at the photos on a computer yet, however, I was very pleased with the images as displayed on the LCD. The fact that the G16 can shoot in RAW will give me plenty of flexibility to fix my errors in post. One of the dive instructors told me she has the same camera and housing and she loves it. Several of the other instructors mentioned they use the G16 in various configurations as a dive camera as well and some of the shots they showed me were outstanding. For good or for bad, the G16 was a very common rental camera and many of the other divers were using it. I hope this helps you out. Once I get home I can process some images and send them your way if you want.
