I reenlisted for Airborne School. My school date is January 2016. When will I receive a follow on assignment? Also, I read that I can get with my career counselor to have them send up a request however, my unit disbanded. Can I just go to my new unit's (its an IPT) Career Counselor? If I get orders will I PCS right after Airborne School? As in I just come back to my home station to clear and then PCS? Thanks in advance for all your feedback.

Didn't you ask these questions to your Career Counselor prior to your reenlistment?

SGM, I did ask these questions. My Career Counselor told me that I would be needs of the Army after I graduate Airborne School. I'm just getting conflicting information and I want to know what to expect.

Yes, your current unit's Career Counselor can easily assist you.

You'll likely come down on assignment instructions to an airborne assignment 90-days prior to training. If not, your Career Counselor can request an assignment through HRC's Retention and Reclassification Branch after that time.

You'll go to school in a TDY & en route status (you'll return to your current station after training to clear and PCS)

See your servicing Career Counselor for detailed, individual information.

Generally if you recieve orders prior to jump school you will go in-route pending your graduation of airborne school. Get with branch or your career counselor to find out more about assignment opportunities

All those can happen. Talk to career counselor to get one.
