Can chain of command force a married soldier to quarantine in the barracks after their spouse went out of town?

spouse went to see family in another state and they are coming back and chain of command is telling them they have to stay in the barracks for two weeks then she can go home to her off post housing.

Sweet Baby Jesus. Yes, they can. For her safety and the safety of others. Soldiers coming back from deployments are getting quarantined before they can even DEMOB and then head back to their families.

It's a time of national emergency, you can handle 2 weeks. Even if it somehow wasn't completely covered by the fact that it's from the commander. ITS A PANDEMIC. It is fought through isolation and quarantine/avoidance.
Do you see why they are quaratining her? How you fight a disease? This is for the good of her and everyone at her house. This disease KILLS PEOPLE.

Yes. Daughter was mobilized and worked at Javits Center in NYC. She has to quarantine for 14 days before she can be released to go home.

Look at it this way, because this is how the command is looking at it- how is the SM going to take care of themselves without the spouse present? How will they get food? They will be under a quaratine order not to leave the house. Violators are getting UCMJ not just looking at violating a direct order, but endangering public health as well.

There are too many points of this note that are not descriptive enough. The military has every authority to order a service member into the barracks. It sounds like this is a life safety issue.

I have to respond. Yes, government owns you now until your time is up, and maybe longer depending upon retirement etc.

The Army can and will control what they have prevue to control. The Army does not have control on whether or not a spouse who has left the local area and possibly came in contact with this pathogen. The Army cannot require the spouse to self quarantine away from the service member; with the exception of a temporary bar if in govt quarters. The Army can remove the service member from the joint household to ensure they do not have contact with the possibly infected.

Is it an unlawful order? No, it is not an unlawful order. Can your chain of command order you to attack the enemy with deadly force? Yes they can. Can your chain of command order you to go to the main gate and set up a tent and guard the gate until you ETS? Yep, sure can. Soldiers might want to read their entire enlistment contract before they actually sign them. A lawful order is what it is.

From the perspective of someone working in an NYC hospital, this virus is no joke. Quarantine is necessary. Best advice: suck it up and deal with it.

I mean, the spouse decided to go see family in another state, I am guessing that it was more than 250 mile radius which is what many units are allowing their soldiers to go without having to be placed in quarantine once they return. If they chose to do such thing they should also live with the consequence which is the quarantine.
