Can challenge coins be added to your erb under awards?

I received one last week from the garrison command and one from the DES people( not sure if it was from their SGM or it is was from the civilians)

Wow, I just think of challenge coins as some type of memento -- a souvenir. Certainly not something to be part of your military records. Have things changed that much?

No. They’re an informal award/token. Put them in a rack like everyone else

You could glue them to old ribbons and mount them on your ASU for your DA photo. Then they will be on your ERB

I would say that coins are comparable to Certificates of Appreciation. They let you know your work/ effort is appreciated but does not go towards anything.

I’ve seen Soldiers receive a challenge coin for doing nothing while at the same time I’ve seen those deserving of an award not get one. Same can be said of many things in life I guess.

Wow, things have changed since I retired. When I enlisted almost five decades ago. You dang near needed to bleed to receive a Navy Achievement Medal. I saw exactly one Challenge Coin and had 20 years of active duty. Who pays for them? They can be awfully expensive. Sounds strongly of "Everyone gets a trophy."
