Any references would be appreciated. Can commanders waive a profile to deploy Soldiers who are non-deployable? 2019-04-16T16:17:51-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4550921

What authority, if any, do Commanders have to deploy Soldiers who are marked as non-deployable due to a physical profile? But they also have to answer for their decisions.

In most cases, a Company Commander who wants to deploy a medical profile will justify his decision to a BN Commander who will approve or deny. Then the BN CDR will brief the BDE CDR in a more general format. BDE CDR can still veto, of course.

Often BN and BDE CDRs will look at the profile itself and/or get counsel from their medical rep in their decision making process. But at the end of the day, the Commander COMMANDS. They can however make strong recommendations. In my experience I don’t know many commanders that would want to do this simply because of the risk vs gain factor. Happened to me last July... It aggravated my medical issues and now I'm medboarding.
